Offering six times the resolution of a 1080p camera, Dahua’s new NK8 Series makes the job of an operator or video forensic analyst easier to identify evidence.
For applications where exceptional detailed images are a priority, the NK8’s wider field of view can do the job of multiple standard definition cameras for a lower total cost of ownership. As a result, time and money can be saved on installation, maintenance, and cabling. Moreover, the effectiveness of an operator’s accuracy increases because more information is available in greater detail.
The latest addition to the Dahua Ultra Series camera line, this next-generation 12-megapixel/4K Ultra High-Definition (UHD) resolution camera series has three housing styles to choose from: indoor, box-style model (lens sold separate), or indoor/outdoor bullet or dome-style housing that is designed for easy installation on hard surfaces.

Dahua’s new NK8 Series cameras feature the latest H.265-ready codec for a 40-50 percent savings on bandwidth and storage vs. standard H.264. For an even higher savings, these cameras also offer Smart H.265+ for an additional 20-30 percent savings on top of H.265. When compared to standard H.264, Dahua’s smart codec can save up to 80 percent of network bandwidth and subsequent storage costs by reducing transmission, bit rates, and storage capacity. The multi-pronged approach works by making reductions of useless or unimportant data wherever possible. As a result, high quality video is maintained without straining the network.
The Ultra High Definition camera series produces high frame rates of 20 fps at 12 megapixel and 30 fps at 4K ultra HD, enabling fast moving objects to be captured at high resolutions. A combination of speed and ultra high resolution makes the difference when collecting evidence for an effective retrospective analysis.
Storage at the Edge
The Ultra High Definition camera series features a Micro SD card slot (Max 128GB), which can eliminate the need and cost for an on-site server, NVR, or PC for recording video. In the event that the camera loses connection with the central server, fail-over recording prevents data from being lost by temporarily storing images on the SD card until the network is restored.
The NK8 bullet and dome-style models feature a motorized, 4.1mm – 16.4mm vari-focal lens. Saving you time and money, the motorized lens provides an easy return on your investment since adjustments can be made remotely, eliminating a re-visit to the site.
The camera series conforms to the ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum) and PSIA (Physical Security Interoperability Alliance) specifications, ensuring interoperability between network video products regardless of manufacturer.
